What to Expect

Your First Visit
Your first visit typically lasts about one to two hours. When you arrive at our thirdfloor office, our front desk team will greet you and help you get settled. You’ll begin with painless diagnostic imaging, then meet one-on-one with your retina specialist, who will review your results with you on screen, explain your diagnosis in clear terms, and walk you through your treatment options.

Please bring your photo ID, insurance card, a list of current medications, and any recent medical records or imaging from your referring doctor. We also recommend bringing sunglasses and arranging for someone to drive you home, as your eyes will likely be dilated during your visit.

In most cases, your eyes will be dilated during your appointment. Dilating drops take about 20–30 minutes to take full effect and allow your doctor to get a complete view of your retina. The effects typically last 4–6 hours, during which your close-up vision will be blurry and your eyes will be sensitive to light. We recommend bringing sunglasses and having someone available to drive you home.
