VITREORETINAL SURGEON
Portrait of Dr. Pradeep S. Prasad, MD, MBA, Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Retina Vision Consultants

Dr. Pradeep Prasad has dedicated his career to two pursuits: restoring vision and ensuring every patient truly understands their diagnosis. As former Chief of Ophthalmology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Retina Fellowship Program Director and Professor of Ophthalmology at UCLA’s Jules Stein Eye Institute, he has trained over 100 residents and fellows— teaching the next generation of eye surgeons the same principles he brings to every consultation: precision, patience, and clear communication.

Dr. Prasad is an internationally recognized leader in retina and specializes in the full spectrum of vitreoretinal conditions, from diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration to complex surgical cases. His approach combines academic-level expertise with a genuine commitment to explaining even the most complicated diagnoses in terms patients and their families can understand. Because when you’re facing a threat to your vision, knowledge isn’t just power—it’s peace of mind.

Treatment Options at RVC

Photobiomodulation

A painless, non-invasive light therapy for intermediate dry AMD — the first FDA-authorized treatment to improve vision in dry macular degeneration. No injections, no surgery, and sessions take just minutes.

Scleral Buckle Surgery

Scleral buckle surgery is an operation to repair a retinal detachment a condition where the retina separates from the back wall of the eye.

Retinal Laser Therapy

An in-office procedure that uses focused light to seal retinal tears, treat diabetic eye disease, and prevent further vision loss. Several laser types are available depending on your condition.

Pneumatic Retinopexy

An in-office procedure to repair select retinal detachments without an operating room. A gas bubble is injected to press the retina back into place — the least invasive detachment repair with the best visual outcomes for appropriate cases.
